does anyone else feel like much of life is spent driving up and down aisles of various parking lots, tetchily looking for a space, not being able to find one, and cursing, 'goddamnit, if only i were handicapped...'
?

Personally I find that things are much more annoying when I care too much about it. Things like parking spaces for instance. If you go to the store without expectation to be quick you are much less disappointed with your bad parking space and much more appreciative of the good one.
Hope, I am surprised to hear you think about being handicapped. That doesn't seem like you. Sounds like you are frustrated with more than just your parking spot...
I don't want to be handicapped. i just think it's ironic that when things aren't going our way, we sometimes inadvertently wish for something worse.
i include myself in the we, but i was mainly trying to point out other people's flawed thinking, not mine. i'm usually pretty good at it, but obviously i need to work on the sarcasm drip.
Lazy people. Thats just stupid to think this way. "Oh look I cant park close to the store. That means I have to WALK an extra 100 yards. OMG I cant WALK that far! I wish I was handicapped." What kind of thinking is this. WALK you need the exercise. Not to mention if you were handicapped you might not be able to walk. Be fortunate that you can walk the extra 100 yards.
OK, just for extreme clarification here -- I did not mean that I think it is OK to wish you were handicapped. I meant that, humans, in general, sometimes (lots of times) think irrationally.
I don't think anyone would wish they were handicapped just to get a good parking spot if you asked them an honest question. But people make comparable bad decisions that might not be so obvious.

That is all. Good night and good luck.
